The World Library and Information Congress will be held in Astana on 18-22 August 2025. This decision was made by the Governing Council of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. The event will be attended by about 4000 people.
Holding the IFLA World Congress in Kazakhstan is aimed at improving the professionalism of the country's library staff and improving the quality of library and information services.
This is the organisation's first major event, which will strengthen the role of the international library industry in Central Asia. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about Kazakhstan's rich history, culture and traditions.
At the annual international event, qualified librarians from around the world meet to share their experiences, discuss new information technologies and librarians' achievements.
It should be noted that IFLA is a global public organisation of library professionals, which accumulates and analyses the best practices of librarianship in different countries and establishes international standards for the organisation of information and service to users of various types of libraries.
