The bilateral talks were preceded by a solemn welcoming ceremony in Akorda for the President of Uzbekistan, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced members of the official delegations to each other. The head of the honor guard company gave a welcoming report to the presidents, and the national anthems of the two countries were played. Then, the heads of state held talks in a narrow format.
Having warmly welcomed the President of Uzbekistan, the Head of State noted that his visit is of great importance in terms of giving further impetus to the development of cooperation and alliance between the countries.
– I would like to note that the people of Kazakhstan are paying great attention to your visit. This says a lot. In recent years, the atmosphere of relations between our countries has changed dramatically for the better. We will make every effort to fill our cooperation with concrete content. This visit is of great importance, since we will sign documents that will determine specific areas of cooperation and alliance between our states, – the President of Kazakhstan said. In turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of this state visit to Kazakhstan.
– Today's visit is of historical significance. Our meeting will further strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two peoples, will take the relations of strategic partnership and alliance to a new level, – the President of Uzbekistan noted.
During the talks, the interlocutors discussed the prospects for further strengthening of cooperation in the political, trade and economic, transport and transit, investment, energy, agricultural, water, cultural and humanitarian spheres and industrial cooperation. Issues on the regional and international agenda were also considered.
The presidents noted with satisfaction the progressive development of Kazakh-Uzbek relations in all areas.
