During his working visit to the Republic of Turkey, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov met with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Ibrahim Yumakli.
Aidarbek Saparov noted the stable development of Kazakh-Turkish relations in the field of agriculture: by the end of 2023, the volume of trade in agricultural products increased by 13%.
Kazakhstan traditionally supplies crop products to Turkey, but due to the lifting of restrictions on livestock products in June 2024, domestic agricultural producers expressed their readiness to export meat products. The Kazakh delegation includes companies for raising, fattening and slaughtering cattle, meat processing plants.
Aidarbek Saparov thanked his Turkish counterpart for his efforts to lift the restrictions and noted the need to intensify work on passing the inspection of the Turkish veterinary service by Kazakh enterprises.
"Increasing the export of plant products is no less important for us. Turkey actively imports grain and oilseed crops, your companies are successfully operating in our market. We expect a good harvest this year, so it is necessary to continue working to increase the supply of high-quality agricultural products," the minister emphasized.
Cooperation in the field of agricultural science is promising.At the site of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, representatives of the National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed 3 cooperation documents: with the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policy of the Republic of Turkey, Sivas University of Science and Technology and the Turkish Beekeepers Association.
Certain results have been achieved in attracting foreign direct investment and creating joint ventures: following the visit, a number of documents were signed in the field of investment in the agro-industrial complex and trade in agricultural products for a total of $2 billion.
We remind you that with the participation of Turkish investors, 6 investment projects have been successfully implemented in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and 10 more will be implemented in the near future for a total of $553 million, including the construction of greenhouse complexes, plants for deep processing of wheat and beans, vegetable storage facilities, etc.
In turn, Ibrahim Yumakli expressed his readiness for comprehensive cooperation, noted that the vision for the development of bilateral relations between the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey coincides.
