A 20-year-old Kazakh woman named Burlen, who set off by bicycle from the Chinese city of Urimqi, arrived in Astana today and completed her journey, a correspondent of the MIA "KAZINFORM" reports.
Burlen Adiletlyzy is a native of the Xinjiang region of the Durbiljin district. This year, she graduated from a higher educational institution with a degree in software design.
She made such a journey to support cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. The Kazakh girl rode more than 2 thousand kilometers and reached the capital today.
Burlen, who came from afar, was greeted by the capital's public with great enthusiasm, traditional shashu and was offered kumyz.
"I am very glad that I arrived in Astana safely and saw you. Thank you very much for your good wishes. I thought about this trip for a long time. Having decided to take a risk, I left Urumqi on July 21. My main goal is to promote the development of friendship between the two countries. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the One Belt, One Road project. Since the establishment of a visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and China, the number of travelers has increased. I wish the friendship between the two countries to continue to strengthen," said the Kazakh girl.
According to her, the scorching sun and obstacles on the road caused problems during the trip.
"This is my first bike ride. Every day I rode 100-150 kilometers. The daytime heat caused some problems. There were days when my temperature rose and I felt unwell. At first, I rode a bike with thick tires. But due to the low speed, I changed them to thin ones. There were times when stones and glass fell on the road, my tire burst and the chain broke. I fixed everything myself. I left at five in the morning and stopped only in the evening. There were times when I ran away from stray dogs on the road. All the people I met along the way expressed their support, gave me water, shared food and helped me. “Who has traveled, knows the pain of the road” means that this trip will be full of difficulties for the girl too, and it will definitely become an unforgettable special day as a milestone in my life. I saw the vast Kazakh steppe and was impressed by its beautiful nature," says Burlen Adiletkyzy.
The head of the Astana city branch of the "World Association of Kazakhs" Galym Ulkenbayuly, who specially came to the event, congratulated Burlen on her victory and presented her with an honorary diploma and a cash certificate.
