The President especially noted the victory of Olympic champion Yeldos Smetov.

- Already in the first days of the competition, he won the first Olympic gold medal in the history of Russian judo, becoming a worthy successor to our famous wrestler Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov. Yeldos, before going to the Olympics, you promised me and all sports fans that you would make every effort for the sake of victory. You kept your word. You are a real horseman! We are all proud of you. Indeed, becoming an Olympic medalist three times in a row is a feat that only a true champion can accomplish. Your victorious path inspired our athletes and made us all happy, - he said.
In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the athletes who returned from the quadrennial tournament with awards, coaches and everyone who contributed to the preparation of the athletes.

– Nariman Kurbanov's silver medal can also be called a historical achievement. For the first time, a representative of Russian gymnastics rose to the Olympic podium. Demeu Zhadyrayev and Nurbek Oralbay performed remarkably in Paris. Our shooters Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won bronze in air rifle shooting. This is the first award for our country in this sport in 28 years. Judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbayev and representative of the boxing team Nazym Kyzaybay were among the prize winners. Each country sends its strongest athletes to the Olympics.Winning an international tournament and becoming the best among thousands of athletes is not an easy task. In such global competitions, every medal in the country's collection has special significance. Therefore, today I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our athletes who won awards at the Olympic Games. Victories in the arenas are achieved through great efforts not only of athletes, but also of many specialists in this field. I express my gratitude to the coaches and other professionals who contributed to the preparation of Olympians. The leaders of the National Olympic Committee gave a new impetus to the development of international cooperation. At crucial moments, you were close to our athletes and provided them with the necessary support. I am convinced that the National Olympic Committee will continue the work started and will achieve specific results in the future, - the Head of State noted. According to the President, the competitions in Paris demonstrated the importance of further support for Olympic sports. Some athletes stopped literally a few steps from the podium, taking places in the top ten. This is an indicator of skill and the will to win. Nevertheless, in his opinion, professional sports have accumulated many serious problems that need to be solved.

- The state allocates sufficient funds for training athletes of the highest level. Therefore, it is fair that in some disciplines, citizens expect impressive achievements from our athletes at international competitions. The relevant department should conduct a detailed analysis of systemic omissions in the development of Olympic sports.Comprehensive reforms are overdue, the implementation of which requires coordinated actions by the authorized ministry, the National Olympic Committee and sports federations. A healthy spirit of fair competition should reign in sports, corruption should be decisively combated, protectionism and other factors that hinder the achievement of high results should be abandoned, the Head of State said.
