A round table on the topic "Abai Centers and Current Issues in Abai Studies" was held in the scientific library of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The meeting presented reports on the work of Abai centers located in each city, and discussed complex issues in studying the thinker's legacy. The event was organized by the research institute "Abai Academy".

Renowned scientists, students of higher education institutions, striving to comprehensively promote the poet's work as a means of forming a spiritually perfect nation, will re-examine the poet's literary legacy in the context of man and society, education and science, religion and tradition, state and power, language and culture.
The moderator of the meeting, the head of the academy Zhandos Aubakir, focused on important issues of Abai studies and presented a general report on the projects implemented by the research institute to date.

"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted in his program article "Abai and Kazakhstan in the 21st Century" that "self-awareness and continuous development of a person, giving priority to science and education, are a manifestation of perfection. This is what an intellectual nation is. In this regard, Abai's words should become a guide for the generation. Definitely, the "Abai Academy" can be one of the projects that fulfills this task. Since 2019, the Research Institute has been conducting analytical and review research in the areas of "Abai - involved in state affairs", "Sympathetic to the new society", "Abai - a model of national identity", "Abai - a man of world culture".To date, the Abai Academy has published 84 scientific works, 18 of which were published in a special series. This shows the specificity and scale of the academy's work," said the director of the institute.

During the meeting, the problem of agitation and favoritism in the promotion of Abai's legacy was also discussed.

"Each action should be based on a scientific basis and carried out systematically. We continue to organize ineffective events, and our main projects are at a standstill. Because of this, the shortage of high-quality personnel in the regional centers of Abaytanu is increasing. Only cooperation and exchange of experience between scientists will bring fruitful results," said the head of the research center "Research and National Spirituality" of the Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, candidate of philological sciences Zhabal Shoyinbet.

The chairman of the language policy committee, candidate of philological sciences Erbol Tilesh, speaking on the topic of the genesis of Abai's genius, emphasized the need to take literary studies to a new level. "Many aspects of the theory of literature of the Soviet period do not meet today's standards. It is for this reason that we cannot go beyond the thematic limit of the thought space in Abai's work. His poems in the genres of ballads, elegies, and romances have not received an accurate theoretical assessment. Abai's poetics and style are topics that still require deep research in literary studies," said E. Tilesh.

Textual criticism is one of the pressing issues in the field of pedagogy.According to scientists, many mistakes were made in the later editions of the poet's poems and the edifications of "Kara sozderi". This leads the reader away from the main idea of ​​the poet and misleads. This was reported by the chief researcher of the "Abai Academy", Doctor of Philology, Professor Serik Negimov.

"In 1977, two volumes of Abai's works were published at the M. Auezov University of Literature and Art. I was at this discussion in 1975. The collection was presented to readers under the editorship of Iskak Duisenbaev, who was the head of the Department of Literary History at that time, and Academician Zaki Akhmetov. I believe that this is the most correct version of Abai's poems. When preparing the book for publication, the achievements and shortcomings of previous editions were taken into account, text checks were carried out. At the same time, explanatory words were supplemented and completely corrected. Because it was Mukhtar Auezov who strictly warned Y. Duisenbaev not to include dubious or useless explanations in future collections. Therefore, when it comes to the poet's poems, it is better to rely on the given version," said S. Negimov.

Literary scholar Aigul Kemelbaeva expressed the need to protect Abai from attacks from all sides.

"We have often noticed information attacks against the thinker Abai, the spiritual leader of our people. Undoubtedly, this is due to the fact that archival data was not used correctly. At one time, the Russian writer Mikhail Sholokhov was subjected to similar attacks. However, scientific institutes of Russia immediately formed a commission and defended their author from unfounded slander, using archival evidence. This is a useful experience," said A. Kemelbaeva.

At the end of the meeting, the idea of ​​creating an Academic Council to solve the above-mentioned problems was proposed.
