Astana hosted a screening of the full-length musical film Stop, Night. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kumis Seitova, director Farkhat Sharipov, producer Baigali Serkebayev, the actors of the film, as well as cultural and art figures.
The film tells the story of Beibit, a young musician who tries to find a balance between his dream and his family obligations. The events unfold in Almaty, and one of the key lines of the film is his relationship with Julia, a dancer who falls in love with the main character. The film reveals the themes of love, friendship and creativity.
The film features 17 songs by the A’Studio group, including the hits Stop, Night, Soldier of Love and Tick-Tock. A special gift for the audience were the compositions from the first album Almaty, performed in Kazakh. The musical arrangements were created by Baigali Serkebayev, the founder of A’Studio and the producer of the film.
"The first cult musical in Kazakhstan was the film "Our Dear Doctor" by director Shaken Aimanov, which premiered in 1958, where my father Ermek Serkebayev played the main role. The composer of the musical was the brilliant Alexander Zatsepin. His song "The Blue Sky Above Me", performed by my father, became a mega-hit and won the hearts of millions of people. More than half a century later, on September 5, 2024, the premiere of the film "Stop, Night" will take place, and I would like our film to continue the baton of creating film musicals in Kazakhstan," said Baigali Serkebayev.
The film was directed by Farkhat Sharipov, known for such works as "The Tale of the Pink Hare", "Personal Growth Training", "18 Kilohertz", etc. More than 500 dancers took part in the production of musical scenes under the direction of choreographers Arsen Imenov from Kazakhstan and Sapla Nama from Great Britain.
The film was created by Medeor LLP with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Center for the Support of National Cinema. The film will be released on September 5.
