The ceremony honoring the winners of the XVII Summer Paralympic Games took place

The ceremony of honoring the winners and coaching staff of the XVII Summer Paralympic Games was held in the Ukimet Uyi building. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov presented state awards for high sporting achievements on behalf of the President. 

The head of the Government congratulated the athletes on their outstanding results. This year, the Kazakhstan Paralympic team set a historical record by winning nine medals, including 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze. 

"As the Head of State noted, the victories of the Paralympians are an example of dedication and unbending will in fights with the strongest rivals. After our meeting on the eve of the games, the whole country watched your every battle on the sports field, and your success became a special pride for us. We are glad that the involvement of special people in sports is growing every year. Today, over 56 thousand Kazakhstanis with special needs are systematically engaged in physical education and sports. And I am sure that the personal example of each of you will make many join the ranks of our Paralympians. The government is stepping up work to create favorable conditions and support athletes," the Prime Minister emphasized. Special words of gratitude were addressed to the coaches and mentors who played an important role in preparing the athletes for the Paralympics. 

In turn, the Paralympians thanked the people of Kazakhstan for their support during the competition. 

"I would like to express my gratitude to the Head of State and all the people of Kazakhstan for their support. Defending the honor of our country at the Paralympic Games in Paris has become a great source of pride for me.We worked hard to win the Paralympic Games medals. Our coaches put all their skills into our victory. I am glad that I became the first two-time Paralympic champion of our country and was able to contribute to strengthening the image of Kazakhstan in the international arena. There is a lot of work ahead of us to achieve new victories. We will not stop there and will continue to work for the benefit of our country,”- said David Degtyarev, two-time Paralympic champion in para powerlifting.

“I am happy and immensely grateful for the Barys Order of the 3rd degree on behalf of the Head of State. We returned to our homeland with a historic gold medal in para-judo, having competed at the Paralympic Games with the strongest athletes in the world. It is gratifying that the state pays special attention to para sports. I think that our success today inspired people with special needs. I hope that future champions will continue our path to glorify Kazakhstan on the world stage,”- said Akmaral Nauatbek, a gold medalist in para judo.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Barys Order of the 1st degree was awarded to the country’s first two-time Champion in para powerlifting David Degtyarev, and the Barys Order of the 3rd degree was awarded to the Champion of the Paralympic Games in Paris and the first gold medalist in para judo Akmaral Nauatbek. Shooter Yerkin Gabbasov, swimmer Nurdaulet Zhumagali and judoka Shamey Yergali, who won silver medals, became holders of the Parasat Order. The Kurmet Order was awarded to bronze medalists Dastan Mukashbekov, Zarina Raifova, Dayana Fedosova and Zhurkamyrza Shukurbekov.The head coaches of the national team and personal coaches of the athletes were also awarded high awards. 5 coaches were awarded the Order of Parasat, 7 – the Order of Kurmet, 2 coaches were awarded the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Yuri Kolesnikov, personal coach of D. Degtyarev; Aydin Anapin, personal coach of A. Nauatbek; Dauren Orazov, personal coach of E. Shameya; Sattar Beisembayev, personal coach of N. Zhumagali; Muslim Sarsembekov, personal coach of E. Gabbasova; Sergey Bezgachev, personal coach of D. Mukashbekova; Kanat Sagyndyk, personal coach of D. Fedosova; Abylay Shunayev, head coach of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan in para shooting; Mikhail Burchalin, senior coach in para shooting; Artur Tomitsky, head coach of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan in para powerlifting; Zhaidar Sailaubayev, para judo coach; Zhandos Kiyanov, head coach of the national para judo team of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Aidar Kartpayev, head coach of the national para swimming team of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Takhir Mamashayev, head coach of the national para athletics team of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Reference: Today, 19 Paralympic sports are developing in Kazakhstan, including boccia, goalball, sitting volleyball, 5x5 football, table tennis, parajudo, etc. In total, the country's national team in Paralympic sports includes 925 people. The Kazakhstan team at the 2024 Paralympic Games was represented by 44 athletes who competed in 9 sports.
