Kazakhstan received 597 thousand foreign tourists in September thanks to large-scale events. From September 1 to 13, 2024, 597 thousand foreign tourists visited the country. Of these, 68 thousand people arrived through the international airports of Astana and Almaty, the rest used other modes of transport, such as railways and motor transport.

The main factors in the increase in tourist flow were the holding of the 5th World Nomad Games and a concert of the famous Kazakh performer Dimash Kudaibergen. These events attracted the attention of guests from 89 countries, which contributed to a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors.

“The main countries from which foreign guests arrived, in addition to neighboring countries, were China, India, Turkey, Germany and the United States. For example, more than 33 thousand arrived from China, over 6 thousand from India, over 4 thousand from Germany, and about 2 thousand tourists from the United States. These data demonstrate a growing interest in Kazakhstan as a tourist destination,” said Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.

He also added that a significant number of tourists arrived from South Korea, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and the UK.

The eQonaq system recorded that about 12,400 foreign tourists registered in Astana alone during the week. Their total expenses on accommodation, transportation, food and entertainment amounted to 15.5 million US dollars, or 7.5 billion tenge. The average bill for tourists from far abroad was 1,500 dollars. Also, according to general estimates, participants in the World Nomad Games contributed an additional 625 thousand US dollars to the country's economy.

It should be noted that popular tourist sites in Astana have recorded an increase in attendance. From September 7 to 13, the National Museum of Kazakhstan received over 14 thousand people. The Astana-Baiterek monument was visited by about 15 thousand tourists, and the Nur-Alem pavilion - about 10 thousand people.

The V World Nomad Games, which are an international cultural and sports event, have become an important event for strengthening the tourist image of Kazakhstan. According to the organizing committee, more than 250 thousand people visited the Ethnoauyl and the games.
