A branch of the British Cardiff University will open in Astana

On September 24, a meeting was held between representatives of Cardiff University — Provost Rudolf Konrad Alleman, Head of International Cooperation Neri Ann Morgan and Director of the One Word Initiative at Oxford University Leyla Najaf Zadeh with the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.

Cardiff University, founded in 1883, is part of the prestigious Russell Group, which unites research universities in the UK. In international rankings, Cardiff University occupies leading positions in such areas as ecology, engineering, medicine, law and architecture.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the details of the establishment of the branch, development plans for the coming months and prospects for further cooperation. Future educational programs of the branch were also considered, especially in such relevant areas as pedagogy, engineering disciplines and IT. Particular attention was paid to geology, renewable energy and educational programs in the mining industry.

The parties agreed that the branch will consistently implement training at all three levels: bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies. An important aspect of the brancha's work will be research activities.

According to Dr. Rudolf Alleman, Cardiff University is ready to contribute to the transformation of the higher education and science system in Kazakhstan.
