As of September 1, 2024, 14,346 foreign citizens are working in Kazakhstan under permits from local executive bodies.
The following categories of permits for attracting foreign labor force (hereinafter referred to as FLF) are available: 577 permits for managers and their deputies (first category), 2,591 permits for managers of structural divisions (second category). The bulk of the attracted FLF belong to the third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories - 5,190 and 636 people, respectively. Also, 1,924 people are attracted for seasonal work, and 3,428 people are attracted as part of a corporate transfer.
Currently, there are 1,812 employers in Kazakhstan using FLF. They employ more than 391.7 thousand citizens of Kazakhstan, which is 96.8% of the total number of employees.
By type of economic activity, the largest number works in the following areas: construction - 4,905 people, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1,870 people, administrative and support services - 1,503 people, mining and quarrying - 1,361 people, manufacturing - 1,337 people.
The main countries of origin of labor migrants are: China - 3,267 people, Uzbekistan - 2,080 people, Turkey - 946 people, India - 885 people.
Let us recall that in order to protect the domestic labor market, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually sets and distributes a quota for attracting foreign specialists to the republic. In 2024, the total quota was set at 0.23% of the labor force in the republic, or 21.5 thousand units.
