07 October, 2024

On October 5, Almaty hosted the official presentation of the Kazakh translation of the bestseller “Venture Thinking: How to Make Informed Bets and Achieve Massive Success” by Stanford University professor Ilya Strebulaev and digital strategy expert Alex Dang. The event was supported by the Saby Charity Foundation and the byb capital venture fund.

The presentation of the book “Venture Thinking: How to Make Informed Bets and Achieve Massive Success” brought together key representatives of venture capital, entrepreneurs and experts in the field of digital technologies in one hall. The event was attended by the Minister of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry, who emphasized the importance of translating this book for the development of venture thinking among Kazakhstani entrepreneurs.

In his speech, the Minister made three key proposals:

"First, I encourage the Digital Nomads community to actively participate in the development of technical literature in the Kazakh language. Our specialists working in leading technology companies abroad can make a significant contribution by providing correct translations of technical terms and facilitating their adaptation," the Minister noted.

The Minister also proposed creating a Venture Investment Development Council.

Its task will be to hold an annual meeting with the participation of venture investors, representatives of the state, the financial sector, startups and funds, including representatives of the countries of the region. This event may become traditional, taking place before the Central Asian Venture Forum in Almaty. The Minister's third proposal concerned the use of the Astana Hub infrastructure to popularize technical literature. We have 15 hubs in the regions that can be used to distribute these materials, including through universities. It is important to understand that venture investments, even in foreign markets, are not the withdrawal of capital, but, on the contrary, serve as a transfer of knowledge and technology back to the country."

About the book:

Professor Ilya Strebulaev has devoted more than 20 years to researching venture capital and approaches to decision-making that lead to business success. In collaboration with Alex Dang, who has extensive experience working with technology giants such as Amazon and McKinsey, they developed nine principles that help entrepreneurs and investors achieve outstanding results.

The book has already become a real guide for investors and entrepreneurs around the world and will soon appear on the shelves of Kazakhstani stores.
