On October 8, 2024, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan approved new requirements for obtaining citizenship in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.

- To approve the level of knowledge of the state language at an elementary level of at least 36 points, the fundamentals of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan at least 9 points, as well as the history of Kazakhstan at least 15 points when accepting citizenship or restoring citizenship of thea Republic of Kazakhstan, the document says.

This order comes into force after the day of its first official publication.

Earlier, the department reported that a Republican Spelling Commission would appear in Kazakhstan.
