The negotiations between the Head of our state and the President of Armenia, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, were preceded by a solemn welcoming ceremony in Akorda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vahagn Khachaturyan introduced members of the official delegations to each other. The Chief of the Honor Guard Company gave a welcoming report to the presidents, and the national anthems of the two countries were played. Then, negotiations between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vahagn Khachaturyan took place.

Having warmly welcomed the President of Armenia, the Head of State noted that our country is interested in bringing Kazakh-Armenian cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

– I am confident that today's agreements will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations. We attach great importance to our regular high-level meetings, which serve as a solid foundation for the Kazakh-Armenian partnership. Kazakhstan values ​​friendly relations with Armenia very much. There are warm feelings for the Armenian people on Kazakh soil. For Kazakhstan, Armenia is a reliable and time-tested close partner. Our peoples are bound by strong ties of friendship, common history and similar cultural and humanitarian values. I note with satisfaction the dynamic and progressive development of bilateral relations in all areas, - emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The head of state said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Armenia, a solid institutional basis for bilateral relations has been formed.– Along with trade and economic cooperation, cultural and humanitarian ties between our peoples are actively developing. Last year, Days of the Kazakh Theater in Armenia were held in Yerevan. Next year, it is planned to organize the Decade of Kazakhstan Culture in your country. Today, you and I will solemnly open the Days of Armenian Culture in Kazakhstan, – the President said.

In turn, Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and declared his commitment to the course of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan.

– I am glad to be here. I am impressed by the progress, the development that is taking place in Kazakhstan. I am confident that our friendship, our relations will be long-term, because they have historical roots. Kazakhstan is a reliable and friendly partner for us. And, of course, I want to emphasize our successfully developing economic relations, – the President of Armenia noted.

During the talks, the interlocutors discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the trade and economic, transport and logistics, agricultural, financial, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of digitalization. Current issues on the regional and international agenda were considered.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev confirmed the readiness of the Kazakh side to continue to provide the Almaty platform for negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on concluding a peace treaty.
