By the end of 2024, Kazakhstan’s national team secured 26 medals across seven of the most prestigious international Olympiads in mathematics (IMO), physics (IPhO), biology (IBO), linguistics (IOL), chemistry (IChO), geography (IGeO), and informatics (IOI).
Today, Kazakhstan is one of the few countries that officially incentivizes Olympiad winners. The government actively fosters an environment that enables the younger generation to realize their full potential, particularly in the fields of education and science.
Since 2022, following a Presidential initiative, winners of international subject-based Olympiads, along with their teachers, receive monetary awards. In 2024, a total of 77.5 million tenge was allocated to 26 students, while 6.4 million tenge was awarded to 24 teachers.
Prize-winning students receive financial rewards based on their medal ranking: gold medalists receive 1,500 Monthly Calculation Indexes (MCI), silver medalists receive 1,000 MCI, and bronze medalists receive 500 MCI.
Furthermore, winners of international Olympiads are granted full educational scholarships to pursue studies at any university in Kazakhstan.
