Free medicines can be obtained through an electronic service

18 October, 2024

Today, two clinics in Astana demonstrated a mechanism for issuing free medicines to patients via a QR code in the "Social Wallet" section (eGov Mobile application).

Over 700 medical organizations across the country are participating in the pilot project for electronic issuance of medicines via the "Social Wallet"; medicines have already been issued based on 93 thousand prescriptions.

In City Clinic No. 4, a patient who has been registered with the dispensary for ten years with the diagnosis of "Diabetes Mellitus" received his medicines directly from a nurse, showing only a personal QR code (voucher).

Thus, a citizen no longer needs to waste time making an appointment with a doctor to receive a paper prescription; the nurse can issue the necessary medicine herself without queues.

For the elderly or other persons who cannot use the state service "Social Wallet", when visiting a clinic, it is enough to pass identification using Face-ID and web cameras, after which the required medicines will also be issued to the patient.

By the end of the year, this project will be scaled up throughout the republic, covering 1.7 million people receiving drugs as part of free outpatient drug provision.

The use of the "Social Wallet" creates conditions for accessibility and complete transparency in the field of providing citizens with medicines, eliminating illegal trafficking, counterfeiting and other violations.

To use the services of the "Social Wallet", you must download the eGov Mobile application, which is available in the App Store and Play Market. To receive medicines, a citizen must register in the eGov Mobile application or identify himself, if registration was made earlier. Next, the citizen goes to the "Social Wallet" section on the main page, there selects the line "Medicine provision".
