More than 11 thousand Kandas received Kazakh citizenship this year

18 October, 2024

Since the beginning of this year, 11,350 kandas have received Kazakh citizenship, the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population reported in response to a request from Vlast.

The ministry also reported that this year 14,391 ethnic Kazakhs returned to their historical homeland and received the status of kandas. In total, since 1991, 1 million 142.7 thousand ethnic Kazakhs have returned to the republic and received the status of kandas.

In 2023, a pilot mechanism for assigning kandas status on the principle of a “single window” through the embassies of Kazakhstan began to operate. As part of the pilot, it is possible to resolve the issue of visiting the country, place of work, housing options and obtain kandas status without entering the territory of the republic.

The editorial board of Vlast has made a series of materials about migrants and the problems they face.
