A new plant for the production of multimedia systems for cars with Kazakh language integration, Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering, has opened in Almaty. The enterprise works using technologies from its South Korean partner, Motrex Co Ltd.
The launch of the new production meets the goals outlined in the Address of the Head of State, “Fair Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Public Optimism.” A systematic approach is needed to fully realize the industrial potential, including the use of domestic raw materials and components.
The growth of the automotive industry is becoming one of the key areas of Kazakhstan’s industrial policy, so it is important to jointly develop the localization and deepening of production processes. The launch of the plant is one of the steps towards mastering high-end processes and creating related industries around large industrial facilities. The enterprise is part of Astana Motors.
“Multimedia systems are high-precision production that requires the competencies of first-class specialists in the field of digital technologies and engineering. Our key goal is to create a production cycle with a high share of localization. And we will make maximum use of domestic raw materials and components. This is why Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering is of great importance for the country,” said Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev at the plant opening ceremony.
As part of its support for domestic producers, the Government is implementing a range of measures. In the automotive industry, in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, work is underway to develop cluster production, which will contribute to the sustainable growth of the industry and increase the competitiveness of products in foreign markets. In addition, in agricultural engineering this year, subsidies for imported analogues were excluded, a differentiated approach was provided for subsidizing the interest rate for leasing equipment - lower for domestic ones. In the railway engineering sector, a mechanism for affordable leasing financing was launched, thanks to which production increased by 1.5 times in 2024.
The Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering plant is located in the Industrial Zone of Almaty. The enterprise will become part of a large technology park for the production of auto components on an area of 100 thousand square meters. This project is aimed at localizing production and supporting the Kazakhstani auto industry. On the territory of the Industrial Zone of Almaty, it is also planned to launch factories for the production of car seats, rubber and plastic products for cars, and a logistics hub. The technical production capacity of the entire technology park will be about 100 thousand sets per year. It is expected that more than 90 specialists will work on the territory of the cluster, and the staff of the entire production complex will be about 400 people.
