On March 11, 1801, according to the decree of Paul I, the Inner or Bukey Horde was established in the lower reaches of the interfluve between the Volga (Edil) and Yaik (Zhaiyk) Rivers, existing from 1801 to 1876.
Creation of the Bukey Horde was a significant event in the history of the Kazakh people. Thanks to the efforts of the representatives of the Younger Zhuz, the Kazakhs resettled and secured their ancestral lands on the right bank of the Yaik (Zhaiyk) River. Eventually, they managed to firmly reclaim part of their traditional Kazakh territory.
The legendary Khan Zhangir successfully maintained khan authority in the Inner Horde, ensuring the continued existence of Kazakh statehood until 1845. Through his educational and reformist efforts, the Kazakhs living between the Volga (Edil) and Yaik (Zhaiyk) Rivers achieved significant progress in socio-economic development and cultural enlightenment.
