Astana, June 19, 2026: The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantyrov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Antonia Katzourou.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of Kazakh-Greek cooperation, placing particular emphasis on expanding trade, economic, and investment ties.

Antonia Katzourou noted that one of the key outcomes of the Deputy Minister's visit to Greece in April of this year was emphasizing the importance of convening the next meeting of the Kazakh-Greek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation (IGC).

Alibek Kuantyrov expressed confidence in the successful outcome of the next Kazakh-Greek IGC meeting, which is scheduled to take place in the city of Athens during the second half of this year.

The Deputy Minister emphasized Kazakhstan's interest in the further development of its partnership with Greece, as well as attracting Greek investments into priority economic sectors such as renewable energy, transport and logistics, metallurgy, the agro-industrial complex, waste processing, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and digital technologies. In this context, the parties noted the importance of intensifying contacts between the business communities of the two countries and implementing joint projects.

Kuantyrov highlighted the positive results of negotiations held with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Greek state institutions, financial organizations, and leading companies of the country.

"During the discussions, mutual interest in expanding cooperation across a number of priority areas was demonstrated, creating a solid foundation for advancing practical initiatives between our countries," he added.

It is worth noting that the trade turnover between the two nations reached 2.4 billion dollars over the past year. The foundation of these trade and economic relations comprises the export of Kazakhstani goods such as crude oil, polypropylene, ferroalloys, and lentils. Imports from Greece include medicinal products, soil sorting and crushing equipment, amino-aldehyde, phenol-aldehyde resins, polyurethanes, and milk processing equipment.

Antonia Katzourou confirmed the Greek side's interest in strengthening economic interaction with Kazakhstan and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their joint work on advancing the bilateral economic agenda and to maintain a regular dialogue on issues of investment cooperation.
