In 2020, the number of women regularly engaged in physical culture and sports in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.6 million people. By the end of 2025, this figure had increased to 2.7 million.
At the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Zarina Baibatina won a silver medal. In 2022, at the 2021 Summer Deaflympics held in Caxias do Sul, Anna Kramorova and Dina Adambayeva won bronze medals in deaf judo, while Aizhomol Abdikatova secured a bronze medal in deaf taekwondo.
Sofya Berultseva became a bronze medallist at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Bibisara Assaubayeva is a three-time world chess champion (2021, 2022, 2025) and also won a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games.
In 2024, Kazakhstani female athletes achieved outstanding results on the international stage. At the Olympic Games, world, Asian and European championships and cups, as well as other prestigious competitions, they won a total of 425 medals (135 gold, 143 silver and 147 bronze). Among them were Olympic bronze medallists Nazym Kyzaibay and Alexandra Le, as well as Zhibek Kulymbetova, who became a world champion in jiu-jitsu.
At the 2024 Summer Paralympics, AkmaraI Nauatbek won a gold medal in para judo. Bronze medals in the same discipline were won by Zarina Raifova and Dayana Fedosova.
By the end of 2025, Kazakhstani female athletes again demonstrated strong performances internationally, winning 309 medals (99 gold, 101 silver and 109 bronze) at world, Asian and European championships and cups, as well as other international competitions.
At the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, Alua Balkibekova, Aida Abikeyeva and Natalya Bogdanova became world champions. Nazym Kyzaibay won a silver medal, while Viktoriya Grafeeva and Yeldana Talipova secured bronze medals.
At the World Judo Championships in Budapest, Abiba Abuzhakynova won a historic silver medal, marking the best result in the history of women’s judo in Kazakhstan.
At the Freestyle Mogul World Championships, Anastassiya Gorodko became a bronze medallist.
At the Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Bulgaria, AkmaraI Yerekesheva won a gold medal, the first in Kazakhstan’s history at this level.
At the 2025 Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, Amina Faizulina won a gold medal in deaf judo, while Anna Kramorova earned bronze in the same sport. Faina Meyrmanova won gold in deaf athletics. Aiym Zhetpisbayeva secured a bronze medal in deaf judo, while Aizhomol Abdikatova and Aida Makatova won bronze medals in deaf taekwondo.
In 2026, speed skater Kristina Shumkova created a sensation at the World Junior Championships, winning five gold medals and one silver medal.
