Kazakhstan Strengthens Status as Regional Digital Solutions Hub for Asia-Pacific

10 March 2026

A delegation from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific visited the international artificial intelligence centre alem.ai. The delegation included representatives from 15 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Bangladesh, Georgia, India, China, the Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, and Türkiye.

The guests familiarised themselves with the centre’s infrastructure and Kazakhstani solutions in artificial intelligence.

The visit took place within the framework of the activities of the special working group of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on the establishment of a Digital Solutions Centre and continued the discussions launched in September 2024 at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation. At that time, an initiative was proposed to establish a Regional Digital Solutions Centre of UN ESCAP in Almaty.

Such international initiatives continue the course outlined by the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. For the country, this year is about taking practical steps in digital development: consistently introducing technologies, developing infrastructure and expanding the application of artificial intelligence in the economy and public administration.

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Development and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev presented to the participants the concept of the Exponential Cluster and a comprehensive approach to the development of the sector.

“We are developing artificial intelligence as a unified ecosystem—from the institutional framework to computing infrastructure and talent development. This approach allows us not only to create technologies but also to implement them in the economy, public administration and the social sphere. Our objective is to ensure the scaling of AI solutions and their practical applicability at the regional level. We remain open to the exchange of experience and the joint development of technological initiatives within the framework of international cooperation,” noted Zhaslan Madiyev.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the key spaces of alem.ai. Their exploration of artificial intelligence began at the Singularity Museum, which presents the evolution of AI—from philosophical ideas of the seventeenth century to modern neural network and generative models. The exhibition includes interactive zones demonstrating the capabilities of contemporary technologies.

The practical application of AI is showcased in the Smart City area, where it is presented as a tool for managing urban infrastructure, including solutions for smart mobility, energy management and public safety. At the immersive AI Cinema with a 180-degree projection, the delegation viewed content created on the platform of Kazakhstan’s first technology unicorn, Higgsfield AI.

A separate section was dedicated to GovTech solutions, projects in the space sector and developments by the USTEM Foundation. AI-powered humanoid robots and robotic systems demonstrated the performance of various tasks in real time.

Particular attention was given to startups—participants of Astana Hub—focused on international markets. Among the initiatives presented were Weglobal AI, an AI-based platform designed to optimise the work of school psychologists and career counsellors; NCSpeech, a decentralised AI infrastructure enabling the creation of high-quality datasets for artificial intelligence training; AMAN, a service for rapid notification and response to threats to children’s safety; Armeta AI, an intelligent platform for automating expert assessment and approval of construction projects; and WONK, a unified AI-powered school management platform with analytics and process automation tools.

The visit confirmed the strong interest of international partners in the development of digital solutions in Kazakhstan and highlighted the country’s potential as a regional platform for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.
