In March 2026, Kazakhstan will launch the spring tourism season with two vibrant anchor events included in the national calendar of cultural and tourism activities. These events will showcase the cultural and gastronomic richness of the country’s regions and serve as attractive destinations for both residents and visitors.
One of the key events will be the cultural celebration “Amal Keldi – Zhil Keldi”, organised by the Akimat of Mangystau Region. The festival traditionally takes place on the eve of Nauryz at the sacred complex Otpan Complex. The event reflects the values of unity, continuity and spiritual renewal. The programme will feature traditional games, concert performances, craft exhibitions and traditional treats served in yurts. The central element will be the lighting of the Fire of Unity, symbolising the beginning of a new life cycle and social cohesion. The event is scheduled for 13 March 2026.
In March, the gastronomic festival “Dastarkhan” will also take place in Shymkent, organised by the Akimat of Shymkent. The festival aims to promote gastronomic tourism, support local food establishments and showcase the region’s culinary identity. The programme will include food tastings, masterclasses from chefs, competitions and cultural entertainment activities, creating an open platform for interaction between businesses and visitors. The event will be held on 21 March 2026.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan notes that a national calendar of cultural and tourism events for 2026 has been compiled, featuring 55 major events across the country. The calendar includes cultural, ethnocultural, sporting, gastronomic and environmental activities aimed at stimulating domestic tourism, expanding travel routes and promoting regional brands.
