The ballet company of the Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre successfully represented Kazakhstan at the NUS University Cultural Centre in Singapore. The performances were held before capacity crowds and emerged as a highlight of the city’s cultural season.
The tour was dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The program consisted of two parts: the first showcased excerpts from world-renowned ballet masterpieces, including P.I. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, L. Minkus’s Don Quixote, and H. Løvenskiold’s La Sylphide. The second half was dedicated to Carmen Suite, the celebrated one-act ballet set to the music of Georges Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin, which captivated the audience with its dramatic intensity, expression, and choreographic precision.
Following the performances, Singaporean audience members shared their impressions, praising the high level of artistry and technical accuracy. Reviews highlighted the dancers' flawless technique and profound interpretation of the musical scores, with many drawing comparisons to tours by the world’s leading ballet companies.
