Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the profound significance of the upcoming 25th Winter Olympic Games and 14th Winter Paralympic Games, which will gather the world’s elite athletes in Italy.

"Approximately 40 athletes from Kazakhstan will participate in the Olympic Games, competing in 10 sports. For the majority, this will be their debut at such a prestigious competition. These upcoming games will not only offer unique opportunities but will also serve as a rigorous test. The journey to the Winter Olympics has been challenging. Our athletes have demonstrated excellent results on international stages, securing 17 gold, 31 silver, and 21 bronze medals. We also place high hopes on our athletes who will represent the nation at the Paralympic Games. The indomitable spirit and strong will of our Paralympians serve as an example to us all. To date, we have secured 10 licenses for the Paralympic Games, which will be held in Italy in early March. It is expected that this number may increase," the President stated.

The Head of State noted that the representatives of the national team have prepared meticulously for the premier event of the quadrennium, as the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games bring together the best of the best.

"Of course, sport is unpredictable. However, the fact that you have passed through a rigorous qualification process and become members of the Olympic team of Kazakhstan speaks volumes about your potential and your drive for victory. Throughout the years of Independence, our athletes have repeatedly proven their high professionalism, achieving hard-won victories at the Winter Olympic Games. The names of Vladimir Smirnov, Lyudmila Prokasheva, Elena Khrustaleva, Denis Ten, Yulia Galysheva, and many other Olympians are forever etched in the history of our national sports. In honor of the achievements of domestic athletes on the world's largest sporting stages, our anthem has repeatedly played and our flag has been raised. I believe that many victories lie ahead. As I noted in my recent speech at the National Kurultai meeting, sporting successes become the pride of the entire country, strengthening national solidarity and the prestige of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the modern world," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
