A solemn welcoming ceremony for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit, was held at the Akorda residence.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin introduced members of the official delegations to each other. The head of the honor guard company gave a welcoming report, and the national anthems of the two countries were played. After the ceremony, the heads of state went to the hall for negotiations in a narrow format.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome on Kazakh soil.

He highly praised the dynamic development of bilateral relations and briefly touched upon the agenda of his state visit to Kazakhstan.
During the talks, the heads of state discussed prospects for developing cooperation in such areas as industrial cooperation, energy, the oil and gas industry, transit of energy resources, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, finance, ecology and water policy, education, science and cultural and humanitarian ties.
