The State Theatre Astana Opera is preparing for a tour to one of the largest cultural venues in the Middle East, the Royal Opera House Muscat. Performances of Roland Petit’s legendary ballet Coppélia will take place on 4 and 5 December with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and upon the special invitation of the Omani side.
While the sets and costumes are en route to Muscat, final preparations are underway at the theatre in Astana. The rehearsal halls are filled with the sound of the piano and the precise guidance of the Artistic Director of the Ballet Company, Altynai Asylmuratova. The performances will be conducted by Maestro Ruslan Baimurzin.
Roland Petit’s Coppélia is distinguished by its vivid character, unique choreography and a blend of romantic narrative with elements of comedic theatre. The production is one of the most renowned in the theatre’s repertoire.
On 4 December, the cast will include: Honoured Workers of Kazakhstan Bakhtiyar Adamzhan, Aigerim Beketayeva and Olzhas Tarlanov.
On 5 Decembe,r the performances will feature: Honoured Workers of Kazakhstan Erkin Rakhmatullayev, Rustem Seitbekov and Shugyla Adepkan.
The tour in Muscat continues the development of cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman. The exchange of artistic projects contributes to the expansion of the international presence of Kazakhstani art and introduces audiences in the Middle East to the high level of the national ballet school.
Astana Opera’s touring productions traditionally attract heightened public interest and help strengthen cultural dialogue while contributing to the formation of a positive international image of the country.
