The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia officially opened the KazNU branch in Omsk

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the branch of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi at the Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoevsky via videoconference.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Science of Russia Konstantin Mogilevsky made reports on cooperation in the field of science and higher education of the two countries.

Then the heads of state gave the go-ahead for the opening of the university branch. The rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev and the rector of Omsk State University Sergey Zamyatin also attended the ceremony.

Admission of applicants to the branch of the first Kazakh university in Russia is scheduled for September 2025. The governments of Kazakhstan and Russia have allocated 200 grants for the education of students.

The branch of KazNU will train bachelors and masters in the specialties of "International Law", "Kazakh Philology" and "Customs". In the future, it is planned to consider the issue of implementing double-degree educational programs.

Training will be conducted in Kazakh, Russian and English by the teaching staff of KazNU and Omsk State University, it is also planned to attract foreign scientists.

Currently, 10 educational and methodological rooms have been prepared and equipped, in particular, the customs office named after Shokan Valikhanov, the Kazakh language named after Abay and international law named after Nazir Torekulov, 5 offices for management and teaching staff, 7 classrooms, as well as co-working centers.
