Kazakhstan’s National Team Wins 30 Medals at the World Youth Togyzkumalak Championship

The World Youth Togyzkumalak Championship (U-15 and U-17, in classical online/offline, rapid, and blitz disciplines) concluded at the “Zenit” Sports Centre in Almaty. The tournament, held for the second time, brought together talented young players from around the world. At the prestigious competition, the Kazakhstani team won a total of 30 medals (12 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze), securing first place in the overall team standings.

The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by Deputy Akim of Almaty Abzal Nukenov, President of the World Togyzkumalak Federation Alikhan Baimenov, President of the Togyzkumalak Federation of Kazakhstan Akim Tursun, as well as representatives of the Almaty City Sports Department, the national federation, and foreign delegations.

This year’s world championship brought together about 180 athletes from 21 countries, including togyzkumalak masters from Romania, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and others.

Togyzkumalak is not merely a national game but a spiritual heritage that presents to the world a culture of strategic thought and the unique traditions of our people. The championship made a significant contribution to the development of the intellectual potential of the younger generation and to enhancing the image of national sports.

The event was supported by the Akimat of Almaty. The championship was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Togyzkumalak Federation. Winners and prize-winners were awarded cups, medals, and certificates.
