Ankara, November 10, 2025 — An exhibition dedicated to Kazakhstan’s National Currency Day, celebrated annually on November 15, was held in Ankara. The event dedicated to Kazakh commemorative banknotes and coins was organized in Türkiye for the first time.

The exhibition , organized by the “Kök-Tu” Kazakh Cultural Association in cooperation with the Embassy of Kazakhstan, brought together Yaşar Çukur, Head of Department at the Turkish Mint under the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye, Cemile Kınacı Baran, Deputy Chair of the Justice and Development Party’s Committee on Relations with the Turkic World, Turkish collectors, representatives of the Kazakh diaspora in Ankara and students.

During the meeting, many experts highlighted the similarities in coin minting technologies among Turkic countries.

Yaşar Çukur noted that the coins produced in Kazakhstan are close to Turkish culture as well. “You depict religious symbols, statesmen, geographic regions, scholars — and so do we. There are similarities in minting technology, and the production methods are identical. Only the patterns differ. But the process and the purpose are the same. The coins we see today will gain special value in 100, 200, or 500 years.”, – stressed the representative of the Turkish Mint.

In her remarks, Cemile Kınacı Baran emphasized the special role of money in the history of Turkic nations, noting that the word ‘tenge’ originates from the medieval Turkic silver coins “denge” or “tanga”.

Guests enjoyed performances of traditional Kazakh kyuis by students and tasted dishes from Kazakh cuisine.
