The 9th Beijing International Ballet Competition and the Beijing Dance Academy Forum, held under the auspices of the World Dance Education Alliance, took place in China from October 21 to 27.
Abilmansur Syrmanov, a student of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, represented Kazakhstan. In the final round, he won the gold medal, performing Albrecht’s variation from Adolphe Adam’s Giselle and a contemporary piece.
The jury included renowned ballet masters such as Nina Ananiashvili, Vladimir Malakhov, Xin Lili, Eric Gauthier, and others. Among the competition’s advisors were Xiao Shuhua, Zhao Ruheng, Feng Ying, and other prominent figures in the arts.
Artistic Director of the Academy, Altynai Asylmuratova, noted that achieving victory in an international competition of this level strengthens Kazakhstan’s reputation on the global ballet stage.
This year’s competition brought together 57 participants from 10 countries, representing some of the world’s leading ballet schools.
The students’ trip was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, CNPC, PetroKazakhstan, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in China.
