MFA: Kazakhstan-Poland Cooperation

Astana, December 3, 2024 - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko held a meeting with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Sejm (lower house of parliament) of Poland Pawel Kowal.

During the meeting discussed issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, expanding political and trade and economic cooperation, cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Special attention was paid to cultural and educational issues. It was indicated that Poland is a popular destination for Kazakh students, and at the moment their number is more than 3 thousand.

Deputy Minister emphasized that Poland is an important partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union, expressing readiness to further deepen cooperation in all key areas. He also noted the important role of 35 thousand Polish diaspora in Kazakhstan, which actively contributes to strengthening ties between the two countries.

The Polish deputy, in turn, emphasized the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and reaffirmed the commitment to deepen cooperation, including the development of inter-parliamentary contacts.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Vasilenko wished the Polish side success in the forthcoming presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025.

For reference: Poland is one of the leading foreign economic partners of Kazakhstan in Central and Eastern Europe. Kazakhstan-Polish trade turnover is more than 80% of the total volume of Poland's trade with Central Asian countries. In 2023, the trade turnover reached 1.23 billion US dollars. Direct foreign investments from Poland in Kazakhstan since 2005 amounted to $447.8 million. 140 companies with Polish capital operate in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The parliaments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Poland have friendship groups aimed at strengthening cooperation between the countries.
