On 1 October 2025, a Kazakhstan–Latvia Business Forum was held in Almaty with the participation of about 50 representatives from the business communities of both countries.
During the forum, it was noted that Kazakhstan views Latvia as an important and reliable partner, while Latvia, in turn, regards Kazakhstan as a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe. The event served as a platform for discussing new horizons of bilateral cooperation.
Participants highlighted the positive dynamics of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvia across all transport sectors. Cargo exports from Kazakhstan transiting through the Latvian ports of Riga, Ventspils, and Liepaja play a key role in the logistics chain linking Central Asia and Europe.
Particular attention was given to the expansion of air connectivity. It was announced that in spring 2026, SCAT Airlines will launch a direct flight between Kazakhstan and Latvia. This step will facilitate passenger travel, strengthen business and cultural ties, accelerate joint project implementation, and create new opportunities for tourism and business development.
The parties also emphasised the high potential of railway cooperation, supported by growing freight volumes and expressed confidence that the launch of direct air service will mark an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations.
