With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the 4th traditional Republican Book Festival “KitapTime – 2025” was held at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.

At meetings of the National Kurultai, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly emphasised the importance of reading and publishing for the country’s future, noting that only a reading nation can become a civilised and intellectually developed society. In line with this appeal, the event was aimed at supporting the spiritual and intellectual development of youth and promoting national cultural values.
The festival brought together representatives of the scientific and creative community, staff of foreign embassies, publishers, artists, masters of decorative and applied arts, illustrators, media representatives, librarians and readers, as well as residents of Astana.
A large-scale book fair featuring domestic and international publishers and bookstores took place as part of the festival, alongside a decorative and applied arts fair and special thematic exhibitions.
The program included the ethnolocation “Abai’s Aul” and an exhibition dedicated to the poet’s creative legacy, the “Book to the Aul” campaign, the embassies’ exhibition “National Attributes”, literary games “BOOKCROSSING” and “BIBLIORING”, a cycling marathon, an art exhibition, master classes, a photo zone “PICNIC TIME”, and other cultural activities.
It should be noted that the “KitapTime – 2025” festival was held simultaneously across all regional libraries of the country, where various events were organized in multiple formats. This year, a total of 1,089 events were conducted within the framework of the festival, reaching nearly 30,000 readers.
