Kazakhstan and Egypt Strengthen Cooperation in the Religious Sphere

On the sidelines of the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva met with the Minister of Awqaf of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Usama Al-Azhari. The parties noted the high level of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Egypt, which are rooted in historical and spiritual ties and have been actively developing since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.

Aida Balayeva emphasized Egypt’s significance as a spiritual and cultural center of the Arab and Muslim world and a reliable partner for Kazakhstan. She also noted that Kazakhstan will continue to serve as an example of interfaith harmony and is ready, together with Egypt, to actively participate in international initiatives.

Special attention during the talks was given to cooperation in the training and professional development of religious specialists, as well as the development of academic collaboration and joint cultural initiatives. The Egyptian University of Islamic Culture “Nur-Mubarak,” established as a result of the joint efforts of both countries, was highlighted as a symbol of productive partnership in this field.

The parties also discussed issues related to countering religious extremism and radicalism, stressing the need for experience sharing and strengthening joint efforts in this area.

The Ministry of Awqaf of Egypt is a state body responsible for managing religious and charitable affairs, as well as overseeing the country’s religious education programs.
