A meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yevgeniy Kochetov, and representatives of the US Commercial Service, a division of the US Department of Commerce responsible for strengthening Washington’s trade and economic relations with other countries. During the meeting, promising and profitable areas of Kazakhstan’s creative market were presented, along with discussions on conditions and possible formats of cooperation.
In his welcoming remarks, Yevgeniy Kochetov emphasised that Kazakhstan is open to the implementation of joint projects in the field of creative industries. “We have established all the necessary financial infrastructure, adapted legislation in line with best international practices, and our country is home to a large number of talented individuals,” noted the Deputy Minister.
Particular attention during the meeting was given to the development indicators of such sectors as cinema, music, fashion, IT, and game development. Potential areas of cooperation under consideration include startup acceleration, international co-productions, and content distribution.
Kazakhstani content is in growing demand abroad. It is purchased by countries such as Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Ireland, Germany, Azerbaijan, Turkey, India, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan. Over the past two years alone, the national TV channels Khabar and Kazakhstan have sold more than 30 series abroad, with distribution handled by one of Germany’s leading media corporations.
