The national team of Kazakhstan is delivering a successful performance at the XVI Asian Shooting Championship, taking place in Shymkent from August 16 to 30. As of August 21, the team’s tally includes nine medals: two gold, one silver, and six bronze.
The first gold medal for Kazakhstan was won by Islam Satpayev in the 10m Air Rifle event. Representing Almaty and a bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Satpayev outperformed athletes from China and Korea to claim the title of Asian Champion.
On the same day, another Almaty representative, junior athlete Artyom Sedelnikov, secured a gold medal in the Skeet event, defeating his Indian counterparts in a tense competition.
Earlier, in the women’s Skeet event, Anastasia Molchanova claimed a bronze medal, while the Kazakhstani women’s team - comprising Olga Khailova, Adel Sadakbayeva, and Anastasia Molchanova - finished second in the team standings, earning a silver medal.
Kazakhstani athletes also demonstrated consistent results in the Air Pistol events. In the Junior Team AP-3 category, the team of Kirill Fedkin, Ramazan Yntykbay, and Kirill Tsukanov secured a bronze medal. In the same discipline among junior girls, Saule Alimbek, Kristina Ustinova, and Asylim Zhakia also won bronze. In the Girls’ AP-3 Team event, Kira Vladimirova, Alisa Kradenova, and Sofya Zhukova added another bronze to the national tally.
In addition, in the Mixed Air Pistol Junior category, the pair of Kirill Fedkin and Saule Alimbek won a bronze medal. In the same discipline, Daniil Smirnov and Alisa Kradenova also claimed bronze in the junior competition.
The championship has brought together over 800 athletes from 27 countries, with more than 700 medals at stake.
The tournament is organized by the Kazakhstan Shooting Federation with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
