On August 19, 2025, the East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Turkestan – The Light of Millennia.”
The exhibition was organized in line with the instruction of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to promote the noble legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the great thinker and spiritual enlightener of the Turkic world.
The main objective of the exhibition is to popularize the moral teachings and hikmets of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the spiritual values of his school, and the cultural heritage of the Turkic civilization.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore ancient versions of the Divani Hikmet, works of scholars who continued Yasawi’s traditions, as well as historical relics of that era. The exhibition, combining historical data, literary and spiritual heritage, and poetic imagery, underscores that the light of Yasawi is a true light that has shone in the hearts of generations for centuries.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the cultural sector of East Kazakhstan Region, members of the intelligentsia, museum and library staff, young scholars, students, and a wide audience interested in the history and spirituality of the Turkic world.
The exhibition will run until September 13, 2025.
