Meeting Between Minister Yersayin Nagaspaev and Chery CEO

On 14 August, Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspaev held a working meeting with Mr. Shaodong Zhu, Vice President of Chery International and CEO of the Chery brand, as well as Mr. Beknur Nesipbayev, CEO of Astana Motors.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and the People’s Republic of China in the automotive sector.

Special attention was given to the localization of automotive component production and the expansion of the country’s industrial base.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to use Kazakhstan-made components in the production of Chery models at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant, located in the Almaty Industrial Zone.

Minister Nagaspaev emphasized that the Ministry will continue to support strategic industrial projects and attract investment to develop mechanical engineering, including the manufacturing of automotive parts.

In turn, Mr. Shaodong Zhu highlighted the importance of production localization in Kazakhstan, affirming that Chery highly values its cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan and welcomes the course toward greater localization.

To date, Kazakhstan has implemented projects for the production of batteries, tires, multimedia systems, and seats, while work is underway to establish new facilities for manufacturing automotive parts and components.

Thanks to its commitment to innovation, the brand has earned a reputation for technological advancement. Chery has been represented in Kazakhstan since November 2021 through a distribution agreement with Astana Motors. In 2025, the AMMKZ plant will commence Chery vehicle production using the CKD method, including body welding and painting.
