President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the visit of Chungwon Choue is a significant event for Kazakhstan’s sports community and reaffirms the World Taekwondo Federation’s readiness to provide comprehensive support for the development of this sport in our country.
The Head of State underlined that taekwondo is not only an Olympic sport, but also a philosophy founded on the principles of harmony, discipline, and mutual respect, uniting millions of people around the world.
According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, hosting the Kazakhstan Open 2025 international G1-category ranking tournament in Astana creates broad opportunities for the professional growth of domestic athletes, the exchange of experience, and the enhancement of the competitiveness of our national federation. He expressed confidence that joint efforts will contribute to the promotion of taekwondo in Kazakhstan as well as to strengthening ties between nations.
In turn, Chungwon Choue expressed deep gratitude to the Head of State for the warm welcome and unwavering support for the development of taekwondo in Kazakhstan. He highly commended the level of organization of the upcoming tournament, the growing interest in this sport within the country, and the achievements of Kazakhstani athletes on the international stage.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan awarded Chungwon Choue the Order of Dostyk, Second Class, in recognition of his significant contribution to the global development of taekwondo.
As a sign of deep respect, the President of the World Taekwondo Federation presented the Head of State with a ninth-dan black belt.
