28 Visitor Centers Operating in Kazakhstan

11 August 2025

In 13 regions of the country, 28 visitor centers are currently in operation, seven of which are located within national parks. These are modern, specially equipped facilities situated in key resort areas and protected natural zones. They provide tourists with detailed information on the region’s main attractions, licensed tours, as well as cultural and sports events.

Visitor centres play an important role in the development of tourism as they serve as the first point of contact for travelers with the region. They help visitors navigate their surroundings, select optimal routes, and learn about opportunities for outdoor activities and cultural events, thereby creating a positive first impression, ensuring a comfortable stay, and encouraging repeat visits.

At visitor centres, travellers can receive recommendations on transport accessibility, dining, and accommodation, as well as free tourist maps and other informational materials. Consultations are provided in Kazakh, Russian, and English, making the services accessible to a broad audience, including international visitors.

These facilities are located in some of the most popular tourist destinations — Alakol, Burabay, Balkhash, Bayanaul, Imantau–Shalkar, among others — as well as in the national parks Altyn-Emel, Burabay, Bayanaul, Kokshetau, Sayram-Ugam, Charyn, and Ile-Alatau. This geographic distribution covers both traditional leisure destinations and eco-tourism routes.

The formation of the visitor centre network not only improves the comfort and safety of tourists but also contributes to promoting regional brands, supporting the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the service sector, and creating new jobs. As a result, visitor centres have become an important tool for the systemic development of domestic and inbound tourism in Kazakhstan.
