On August 7, new U.S. trade tariffs came into effect for numerous countries worldwide. For Kazakhstan, a 25% tariff has been imposed on the entire volume of affected exports. What impact this may have on the national economy is explored in this report by a Kazinform analytical correspondent.
The document introducing the new import tariffs was signed by Donald Trump on August 1. According to the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the newly introduced tariff measures affect only 4.8% of Kazakhstan's total exports to the United States. The remaining 95.2% of Kazakhstani exports will not be subject to the new duties.
