Shanghai SpaceSail Satellite Internet Tested in Kazakhstan

Вчера

A test launch of satellite internet by the Chinese company Shanghai SpaceSail was conducted in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. The trials were carried out with the participation of company specialists who arrived in Kazakhstan to demonstrate the technology. During testing, connection speeds of up to 200 Mbps were recorded, confirming the system's high potential.

The Shanghai SpaceSail system is based on low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite communications. These satellites provide stable, high-speed connectivity even in remote and hard-to-reach areas where the deployment of fiber-optic infrastructure is economically or technically challenging.

The project aims to address digital inequality by providing satellite internet access to rural schools, medical facilities, mobile units, and infrastructure sites. This initiative is expected to expand access to modern telecommunications services and improve the quality of life in rural communities.

As part of the partnership development, a Kazakhstani delegation visited the Shanghai SpaceSail headquarters in Shanghai, where they were introduced to the company’s technological solutions and production processes. The parties discussed prospects for long-term cooperation. According to current plans, the company intends to commence operations in Kazakhstan in 2026.

The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry welcomes technological initiatives aimed at advancing digital services in the country and remains open to cooperation that meets the needs of citizens and contributes to improving quality of life.
