On the initiative of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the international challenge “Abai’s poems in the languages of the world” has been launched to mark the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaiuly.
The aim of the project is to promote Abai’s creative legacy on the international stage and to strengthen interest in Kazakh culture among the multinational community.
Participants include members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, heads of leading foreign national and children’s libraries, representatives of ethnocultural centers, as well as active readers. Representatives of various ethnic groups expressed deep respect for the personality and works of the great poet.
As part of the challenge, Abai’s poems were recited in Kazakh, Russian, Polish, German, Belarusian, Armenian, Mongolian, and Indian languages.
