Achievements of Students in the Field of Culture for the First Half of 2025

In the first half of 2025, the education system in the field of culture demonstrated steady positive dynamics and achieved significant results at all levels – from specialized schools for gifted children to higher education institutions and colleges.

More than 30 educational programs offered by organizations under the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan successfully received accreditation for a five-year term. For the 2025–2026 academic year, 1,647 state-funded places have been allocated to universities and colleges under the Ministry’s jurisdiction.

The T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts ranked first in an independent rating of the most in-demand universities in its fields of study. The Kazakh National University of Arts was officially named after Kulyash Baiseitova.

The reconstruction of the main building of the Kulyash Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts has been completed. Under a public-private partnership, the implementation of a project to construct a new dormitory building for the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts has begun. Plans for the construction of three new boarding schools funded by private investment are currently under consideration. Technical specifications have been prepared for the development of design and cost documentation for modernized boarding schools that meet contemporary standards.

In the first half of the year, more than 80 master classes, 66 exhibitions, and 8 international festivals were held. Over 25 new agreements on international cooperation were signed.

More than 700 students from universities, colleges, and schools of culture became laureates of national and international competitions, including:

  • 175 students of the Zhurgenov Academy;

  • 275 students of the Republican Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School named after K. Baiseitova;

  • 122 students of the Kulyash Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts;

  • 15 students of the P. Tchaikovsky Almaty Music College.

Major international and national events were organized, including:

  • The 3rd International Student Theater Festival Tyrki Dúniyesi;

  • The 9th International Competition for Choreographic Educational Institutions ÖRLEU;

  • The 10th Eurasia Piano Forum;

  • The 46th National Performers Competition.

The Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory hosted two international festivals — the First International Vocal and Choral Festival ULY DALA ÚNI and the Ancient Instruments Festival KÓNE ASPAPTAR SHERUI. The Zhurgenov Academy is participating in the international project Playing Memories in cooperation with universities from eight countries.

During the first half of the year, 1,448 students of educational institutions in the cultural sphere won prizes at national and international competitions and festivals, including:

  • 572 students of the Kulyash Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts,

  • 127 students of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory,

  • 148 students of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts.

Additionally, among the participants are 87 laureates of national competitions and 36 laureates of international competitions, including:

  • The 3rd National Instrumental Performance Competition Dialogue of Cultures – 2025;

  • The 1st National Competition Serper;

  • The International Instrumental Performance Competition Cantilena;

  • The 5th International Creative Online Competition Gallery of Talents;

  • The Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition and others.

The Ministry of Culture and Information will continue implementing systemic measures aimed at developing education and science in the field of culture, maintaining academic standards, and fostering the creative potential of youth.
