Kazakhstan celebrates National Dombra Day annually on the first Sunday of July. This year, the holiday falls on July 6.

Established in 2018 at the initiative of the President, the holiday serves to strengthen national identity, spark interest among the younger generation in traditional culture, and emphasize the continuity of generations.

The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved a national plan of events dedicated to the celebration.

This year, approximately 300 events are planned across the country, with more than 200 to take place in the regions.

On July 6, a festive concert by the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Orchestra of Folk Instruments will be held at the MEGA Alma-Ata open-air venue. Additionally, a special concert titled “Dombyra Party” featuring the same orchestra will be held at the Kok Tobe Park.

In Astana, a celebratory concert will take place at the amphitheater to mark National Dombra Day.

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a concert commemorating the 100th anniversary of the prominent composer Nurgisa Tlendiyev.

In the Zhambyl Region, a musical evening titled “National Dombra Day – Honoring the Voice of Our Ancestors” will be held at the “Köne Taraz” archaeological park.

In Turkistan, the “Azret Sultan” State Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum will host a cultural event called “Dombra-Dastan.”

Furthermore, a nationwide challenge dedicated to Dombra Day is currently underway, with participation from nearly 100 prominent cultural figures.
