President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly welcomed President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping at the Akorda Presidential Palace. As President Tokayev emphasized, the Chinese leader is always a highly respected guest on Kazakh soil, and his visit is a vivid symbol of the sincere and unwavering friendship between the two countries.

"The People’s Republic of China is a kind neighbor, a close friend, and a reliable partner of Kazakhstan. Thanks to your personal support, Kazakh-Chinese cooperation is advancing at an unprecedented pace, guided by the principles of comprehensive and enduring strategic partnership. A close study of our shared history reveals that relations between our countries have always been based on friendship and cooperation, free of conflicts or obstacles. Mutual understanding and goodwill have always been the hallmarks of our ties. The Chinese people have never caused harm to the Kazakh people," the President stated.

President Tokayev further noted that bilateral relations have entered a new “golden period,” significantly contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development and prosperity of both nations.

He highlighted the symbolic nature of President Xi’s visit, which coincided with his birthday, and extended wishes for robust health, well-being, and continued success in his public service.

"In Kazakhstan, you are known as a great statesman and a wise leader with enormous international stature. Your name is inseparably linked with the progressive development of your country. I am confident that under your strong and authoritative leadership, the People’s Republic of China will reach new heights in socio-economic modernization and further enhance the well-being of its citizens. We sincerely rejoice in your tremendous achievements in building socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new historical era. I deeply appreciate your warm attitude toward me personally and toward the people of Kazakhstan," said President Tokayev.

He reiterated that China is a kind neighbor and a time-tested, trustworthy strategic partner of Kazakhstan. According to him, the relationship between the two countries remains consistently stable and is not subject to the negative impact of geopolitical challenges or global market fluctuations.

"China never imposes political conditions on its cooperation with Kazakhstan. We value your unwavering support for our sovereignty and security guarantees. We support China’s peace-oriented initiatives and highly regard your country’s key role in shaping a just world order," Tokayev added.

The President also underlined the high level of collaboration between the two nations within international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), BRICS+, and the "Central Asia–China" format.

President Tokayev recalled that China is Kazakhstan’s largest trade and economic partner. Last year, bilateral trade reached a record high of USD 44 billion.

He also noted progress in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, including the opening of cultural centers, Luban Workshops, branches of Chinese universities, and scientific and technical institutions. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for the activities of Confucius Institutes. The year 2025 has been declared the Year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan, contributing to mutual trust and deeper bilateral cooperation.

The President placed special emphasis on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy:

"We have decided to construct several, at least two or three, nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan. Work is currently underway to engage major companies in this significant project. The Nuclear Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been established. I would like to particularly note that we consider China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) a reliable strategic partner for the NPP construction project. CNNC is internationally recognized for its high level of expertise and will undoubtedly secure a well-deserved place in our market. Additionally, Kazakhstan is a reliable supplier of natural uranium and nuclear fuel to China," Tokayev said.

In response, President Xi Jinping expressed his gratitude for the warm reception on Kazakh soil. He noted that under President Tokayev’s leadership, Kazakhstan has embarked on a path of national renewal and continues to make significant strides in its development.

"As good neighbors and strategic partners, we sincerely admire your accomplishments and celebrate your progress. Relations between China and Kazakhstan have stood the test of a changing global environment and continue to evolve dynamically. This is due not only to our geographic proximity and centuries-old friendship but also to the natural need for joint development of our countries. In recent years, our joint efforts have continually enriched the China–Kazakhstan community of shared destiny with new substance. The successful implementation of a wide range of socially significant projects has brought tangible benefits to both nations. I am ready to work hand in hand with you to continuously strengthen the friendship between our peoples and promote our multifaceted cooperation so that China–Kazakhstan relations contribute even more to regional and global development," said the Chinese leader.

During the talks, a broad range of issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation was discussed. The dialogue took place in an atmosphere of traditional friendship, mutual respect, and openness.
