The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has announced that humanitarian assistance was provided to Kazakh citizens who had left Iran, reports NUR.KZ.
According to a statement issued by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, due to the current situation in the Middle East, the country's territory has been made available for the departure of foreign diplomats, their family members, as well as other individuals currently residing in Iran.
“As of today, approximately 120 individuals—citizens of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Romania, and other countries—have crossed the state border of Turkmenistan through border checkpoints.
The arrivals were provided with transportation, food, hotel accommodation, and basic necessities. Relevant state authorities of Turkmenistan are closely cooperating with diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations,” the statement read.
Previously, the Ministry of Tourism had issued an appeal to Kazakh citizens regarding their return home in light of the situation in the Middle East. A few days earlier, it was reported that six Kazakh nationals had evacuated from Iran via Azerbaijan.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Authority imposed a ban on flights by airlines over, within, and near the airspace of six countries—namely Iran, Israel, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon—until further notice, due to the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East.
