The «Abai eline sayakhat» project (Journey to the Land of Abai), initiated by Alikhan Bokeikhan University, has officially launched in Semey. The initiative is dedicated to celebrating the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayuly.
«Abai eline sayakhat» is a cultural, educational, and tourism project designed specifically for university students across Kazakhstan. It offers participants the opportunity to visit historical and cultural landmarks, buildings, and settlements associated with prominent figures of the Kazakh nation.
The project began on June 2 and will continue until the end of August. Throughout this period, students from Kazakhstani universities, organized into special expedition groups, are visiting historical sites and museums connected to Abai and members of the Alash movement, including the Abai House Museum in Zhidebai and the Abai–Shakarim Memorial Complex.
In addition to guided tours, the project features joint film screenings, entertainment activities, intellectual quizzes, and team-building sessions for participants.
The first participants of the project were students from the International University of Information Technologies (IITU) in Almaty. Together with their peers from Alikhan Bokeikhan University, they visited historical and symbolic sites in Semey, as well as the Abai House Museum in Zhidebai.
The students were offered not only excursions to important landmarks, but also a rich cultural and entertainment program, including a team-building event in the scenic pine forests of the Irtysh region. As a token of appreciation, the IITU students presented residents and guests of Semey with a specially prepared concert titled Abai eline tartu (“A Gift to the Land of Abai”).
