Today, on August 17, 2023, an international final seminar-forum to discuss the project "Communication strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on working with Kazakh diasporas and former compatriots living abroad", organized by the International Organization for Migration – the UN Agency for Migration in the Republic of Kazakhstan (IoM), started in Almaty.

The two-day event was attended by representatives of a number of state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NJSC "Otandastar Foundation", NCE "Atameken", the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora, delegates from Germany, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, a group of scientists and experts in the field of diasporology.

The representative office of the UN Migration Agency in Kazakhstan and the NGO "Otandastar Foundation" jointly developed a project "communication strategy" aimed at forming a new format of work with ethnic Kazakhs and former compatriots abroad. This document is aimed at increasing the investment, innovation, tourism, scientific potential of Kazakhstan, the formation of a positive brand of Kazakh culture and the state, involving compatriots from abroad in the development of the country.

The partnership between the Otandastar Foundation and the International Organization for Migration has been working fruitfully since 2022 on the basis of development vectors within the framework of migration and diaspora policy.

Last year, the organization initiated the first seminar to discuss the communication strategy project in Astana. In addition, he participated in the development of the concept "Migration policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2027", provided professional methodological support based on international experience.

During the meeting, the head of the company "Otandastar Foundation" Abzal Saparbekuly reported on the directions of work and projects of the company. At the same time, in his report, he noted: "the adoption of this communication strategy opens up new opportunities for developing cooperation with the Kazakh diaspora and former compatriots in a new direction and stimulating their involvement in increasing the investment and tourism potential of Kazakhstan."

The Otandastar Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan carries out large-scale work to establish ties with the Kazakh diaspora and compatriots abroad, strengthen ties with Atazhurt, support the preservation of national identity and identity and mobilize potential for the development of the country. On migration issues, the COMPANY closely cooperates with the International Organization for Migration at the United Nations and the Migration Agency in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main goal of the communication strategy proposed today is to build an effective dialogue with the Kazakh diaspora and compatriots abroad, establish its main principles and involve their potential in the development of Kazakhstan.
